IP Electrical was founded by Isaac Porter, who has worked in the electrical trade for over ten years. The business was set up around a straightforward idea: that most people looking for an electrician want three things — someone qualified, someone who turns up, and someone who leaves the correct paperwork behind.
That sounds like a low bar. In practice it is the thing customers mention most often in their feedback. Arriving when we said we would, keeping the property clean, explaining what we found in language that means something, and issuing certification without being chased.
The work we do
We handle domestic and commercial electrical work across the region — from adding a socket in a Kendal terrace through to full electrical design and installation for commercial conversions. Recent projects have included complete electrical works converting commercial premises into residential flats, full rewires, and inspection and testing across holiday accommodation and rented property.
We work for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, small businesses and main contractors. Some jobs are an hour; some run for weeks. Both get the same standard of certification.
Standards and compliance
All work is carried out to BS 7671, the current UK wiring regulations. Notifiable work is registered with building control as part of the job rather than treated as an optional extra, and you receive the appropriate certificate on completion — the document you will need when you come to sell, let or insure the property.
We carry public liability insurance and are happy to provide certificates before work starts. If you are a letting agent or main contractor with a compliance pack to fill in, tell us at quote stage and we will get you the documentation you need.
How we price
Quotes are free, written, and based on an actual assessment of the job rather than a phone estimate. We do not publish fixed prices for most services because the honest answer to "how much is a rewire" depends on the property, and a headline price that changes halfway through helps nobody.
Where we quote a figure, that is the figure. If something genuinely unforeseen appears once walls are open — and in older properties it occasionally does — we stop, explain it, and agree the change with you before continuing.
