Rewiring a home is disruptive. We plan it so it's less so.
A full rewire is one of the bigger jobs a house will go through. It touches every room, and done badly it leaves you with months of making good. The difference between a rewire that goes smoothly and one that doesn't is almost entirely in the planning — agreeing socket and switch positions before the first cable is pulled, sequencing the work around how you actually use the house, and being honest about which weeks will be uncomfortable.
We walk the property with you first and mark up positions room by room. It takes an hour and it saves a great deal of regret. If the house is being refurbished at the same time, we'll work to the builder's programme and coordinate first fix and second fix around the plastering.
Consumer unit upgrades
Older fuse boards — rewireable fuses, or early plastic units without RCD protection — no longer meet current standards and, in some cases, will not pass an inspection. Replacing one is a day's work in most homes and represents the single biggest safety improvement available for the money.
We fit units with every circuit individually protected by its own RCBO. The practical benefit is simple: when something faults, one circuit trips instead of half the house going dark. Boards are labelled clearly so you can find the right switch without a torch and a guess.
What's included
- Full and partial rewires — complete recabling, or targeted work on the circuits that need it
- Consumer unit replacement — modern boards, individual RCBO protection on every circuit, clear labelling
- Agreed layouts — socket, switch and light positions confirmed with you before first fix
- Building control notification — handled by us as part of the job
- Full certification — Electrical Installation Certificate issued on completion
- Landlord and letting work — rewires timed around tenancy changes where possible

Common questions
How long does a full rewire take?
For a typical three-bedroom house, usually five to ten working days depending on access, the age of the property and whether it is occupied. Solid stone walls and awkward cable routes add time. We give you a realistic timescale in the quote rather than an optimistic one.
Do I need to move out during a rewire?
Not always. Many customers stay put, and we sequence the work so you keep power and hot water in at least part of the house. If the property is empty or being refurbished the job runs faster and costs less, so it is worth telling us at quote stage.
How do I know if my fuse board needs replacing?
Rewireable fuses with wire in them, a board with no RCD protection, or anything showing scorch marks or a burning smell all warrant immediate attention. If the board is more than twenty years old it is worth an inspection even if nothing appears wrong.
Will you make good after a rewire?
We chase, run cables and refit accessories, leaving the chases filled and ready for decoration. Full plastering and decorating are usually handled by a plasterer or decorator, but we will tell you clearly at quote stage what is and is not included so there are no surprises.
Is a rewire notifiable to building control?
Yes. A rewire is notifiable work under Part P of the Building Regulations. We register it as part of the job and you receive the certification on completion — it is not an optional extra.
